US Navy Awards Foreign Comparative Test Program Contract to Alcore
- 9 September 2004

Edgewood, Maryland USA - 9 September 2004 - The US Navy, F-14 Program Office selected Edgewood, Maryland based Alcore to represent US Industry in a teaming and mutual cooperation agreement among three US companies and PZL-Swidnik, a Polish company. The program is sponsored by the Foreign Comparative Test (FCT) Program Office and managed by the NAVAIR, F-14 Program Office.
As part of this agreement, Alcore will produce and ship pre-cut, corrosion resistant PAA-CoreT aluminum blankets to Poland. PZL-Swidnik will, in turn, fabricate the necessary sub-components into a complete metal bonded structure and ship the completed part to the fleet customer.
Alcore was chosen to participate based on the superior corrosion resistant properties of PAA-CoreT aluminum honeycomb and superior in-house engineering and machining capabilities regarding core shaping. The F-14 Program Office will introduce high tech materials such as Alcore PAA-CoreT aluminum honeycomb and modern manufacturing techniques to recreate components that possess superior in-service reliability. The F-14 Tomcat is a carrier based, multi-role Strike Fighter employed by the US Navy as an all weather, long range weapons delivery platform. The program will initially include replacement structures for the F-14 Tomcat with the potential to produce additional components for other military aircraft as the program matures.
Alcore is part of the M.C. Gill Corporation Group of Companies
